🐾 Eric was a proper little character — loving, funny, full of personality and always ready for a fuss. For such a little dog, he left an enormous space behind. 🐾

My tribute to Eric ❤️

I didn’t know Eric for very long, but every time I met him he was impossible not to love. He was this little bundle of energy and affection — full of cuddles, licks and excitement, and always wanting to be close to you.

The last time I saw him, I remember thinking what a lovely little character he was. I’d even agreed to look after him for a week while my daughter and her partner were away, and I was genuinely looking forward to having him. In the end the plans changed and I didn’t need to have him, and although I never said anything at the time, I was a little disappointed because I’d been excited to spend that time with him.

I’d also taken Chester out walking with Eric once, and they got on absolutely fine. Chester was always happiest charging around off the lead, whereas Eric was treated a bit more carefully because he wasn’t used to that kind of exercise. They were very different dogs, but it was lovely seeing them together.

When I heard that Eric had passed away, I knew how much it would hurt my daughter. He was her little boy, and losing him so suddenly was devastating.

I couldn’t take that pain away, but I could make something with my own hands to help keep his memory close. I made her a personalised picture frame and a keyring, hoping that in some small way they would help her remember Eric for the love, laughter and affection he brought into their lives.

I only knew Eric for a short time, but I’m glad I got to know him at all. And I’ll always be a little sad that I never got that week with him.

Rest easy, little man. You were very loved. ❤️
